Peg’s Gallery

Peg’s Gallery, in the lobby of the Margaret Clark Morgan Building, is one way the Foundation increases awareness and engagement by the general public in the arts. This space is always free and open to the public, which is one way we seeks to increase awareness of and engagement in the arts.

Original Works by Justin Everett Hilton

Exhibition ran from June 13, 2018 through August 21, 2018

Original Works by Justin Everett Hilton featured image

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Justin Hilton began his artistic endeavors as soon as he understood what a pencil was and how it worked. Quickly, his creative output spanned multiple mediums and today includes, graphite, pastels, colored pencil, collage, ink, sepia/water color, photography, poetry, sculpture, and digital media.

Mr. Hilton believes in the power of art as an existential expression which is obligated to tangibly transform people in the deepest most powerful profound and significant ways imaginable. His artistic statement reads:

"ART…, the result of
BEING CREATED
to in fact CREATE.
We are all
ARTISTS
by ARTISTS
and therefore
gifted and talented
far beyond
measure or limit… uniquely
SIGNATURE!"

As the first ever public comprehensive showing of his art, indeed…his ‘SIGNATURE’, he welcomes all family, friends, colleagues, art enthusiasts, and fellow, future and fully established artists and creators to enjoy his creations and expressions.
Justin encourages everyone to find that unique signature that constitutes you as a one-of-a kind masterpiece

What did exhibiting your art in Peg’s Gallery mean to you?

It meant a number of things...
1- Awareness...
* of Peg's Foundation to my attendees
* of the power and responsibility of art within each of us and our community
* of who I was, am and can be as an artist and impa...cter (which is like an influencer, but better :)
* of the stewardship we wield for our next generation of leaders and contributors to our societal good

2- Understanding...
* of the mental landscape and it's illnesses and health
* of art as a time capsule and storytelling and empowering narrator of life
* of the value of sharing who we are and what we've done
* of the need to place a measurable value on your time and talents

3- Reflection...
* of captured self and the growth continuum necessary for change
* of how the world is seen and viewed within art, piece by piece
* of how we might be better as living works and workers of art

4- Healing...
* of preconceived notions/beliefs that sameness is to be valued above all else
* of that which ails our rapid pace of production in the stead of the value of the slow and articulated conceptions of inner contemplation that art and artistic processes require
* of selfishness and finding collective value in the vulnerability of the shared

5- Change...
* to you resurrect possibility beliefs/thinking
* to rediscover buried/repressed dreams and goals
* to purpose to do more and to show more and to grow more

What has it done for you?

* It reminded me of my passion for art and the responsibility I have to use it as a necessary mechanism to help and grow others, our community, as well as myself.
* It revitalized the significance of storytelling and the power of the p...rocess of designing artistic narrative as a way to invite others into a conversation with the artist, the artistic product/piece/medium and even with themselves and their narrative story

What opportunity do you think showing in Peg’s Gallery does for other artists?

* It provides the artist with exposure to, and leveraged efforts with, Peg’s organization and their beliefs, vision/mission and community impact.
* It provides the community at large with awareness and access to the product, process ...and power of art and the artist.
* It offers the artist opportunities complicit with awareness, understanding, reflection, healing and change.
* It allows for the generation of revenue and/or financial contributions/donations to Peg’s
